THE PERFORMERS CHOICE

In Stock! Schimmel constructs instruments to such a high level of craftsmanship, care and build quality that one can truly say they are second to none. However, they can also be surprisingly affordable. Before you plunk down your hard-earned money on a similar sized piano from Steinway, Boston, Yamaha or Kawai you really owe it to yourself to come and see what all of the buzz is about. You will be pleasantly surprised. This brand new model K230 is a perfect example of what Schimmel can create. At 7’ 7” it is big and the wide tail design only adds to the depth of tone. The Konzert Collection is Schimmel’s premium range of grand pianos and they are considered ideal for professional musicians and performance artists.

Featuring a hand built action from renowned German manufacturer Renner and German Roslau strings, it has a touch that just doesn’t get any better. Big, bold, assertive and darkly handsome, professional players and technicians just adore these. It has just received a full voicing and regulating performed by one of the area’s top technicians, it has also received a concert level tuning. All of the inner casework is amazingly detailed and the ebony polish has been buffed to within an inch of its life. Complete with the matching Schimmel padded top adjustable artist bench, there just isn’t any more to add or want from an instrument. It will take you on a soaring musical journey if you are just strong enough to hang on and go along for the ride. Complete with the manufacturer's ten-year warranty and our exclusive trade up policy.

Background

The Schimmel Konzert K230 Grand Piano is the "Goldilocks" entry in the Konzert series – neither as small as the K175 or K195 nor as colossal as the K280, it's the perfect balance of size and sound ("it's just right"). Yet, as the 7'7" entry, few would describe this as small; and, in the hands of a master, the K230 is a truly indomitable German handmade piano.

In fact, beneath the surface, all the same, advanced design features contained in the 9'2" K280 are present in the Schimmel Konzert K230. Comparable to other pianos like the New York Steinway B, Yamaha CF6, or Shigeru Kawai SK6, there are arguments to be made for why the K230 is the elite piano in its class.

Specifications

Encased with its cabinet, Schimmel has done the impossible; the K230 contains a Schimmel-designed and Renner-built action identical to the 9-foot K280. Part of this magic is that the K230 is longer than compared to concert grands. Nevertheless, it's a remarkable feat of piano engineering.

The keys are ebony and mineral, ideal for playing regardless of climate. Overall, the feel is responsive, fast, and yet easy to control – it'll impress players of all abilities.

In contrast to the traditional Schimmel brightness, the Konzert is dark and brooding – decidedly unique among the German maker's repertoire. A new bridge design allows the soundboard to vibrate more liberally, and an additional string is added in the mid and treble to extend the speaking length: known as "triplex scaling."

The soundboard is made from Bavarian AAA solid Mountain Spruce and is 15% larger than is typical for pianos of this size.

History

Few piano makers have the versatility of Schimmel. Founded in the 1880s by Wilhelm Schimmel, the manufacturer has remained at the forefront of piano making for over 130 years. With the Schimmel K230 Grand Piano, they're staking their claim to another 130. This formidable German 7-footer is the epitome of European pianos – and with an extra-thick rim, it's designed to last for generations.
