Petrof Model IV Grand Piano Ebony Polish
Petrof is currently the largest producer of acoustic grand pianos in Europe. They sell in 5 continents and export to over 65 countries across the world. Since 1864, when Antonín Petrof built his first piano, they have produced over 630,000 instruments. Their pianos are popular among musicians above all for their unusually soft, gentle, rounded and romantic tone. Built in August of 1998, this Model IV-3A is quite typical of the breed. At 5’ 8” it’s large enough to produce a full billowing sound but not so large as to overwhelm the room. Tonally she is a bit of a diva, somewhat difficult, a little prissy and reserved but also elegant, refined and cosmopolitan in nature. If you want to just bang away on something and get a huge loud racket well then come and try one of our Steinways. But if the dreamy, gauzy, lilting sound of a Chopin waltz is your thing then it doesn’t get any better than this.
Over the decades of their production much has changed, but precise work by hand, careful selection of materials and the unchanging romantic sound endure. Fresh out of the shop where it has received a full voicing, regulating and concert tuning from one of the area’s top technicians (who would be delighted to discuss its merits with you), all of the keys have been hand cleaned and buffed, the ebony polish gleams, the bright-work has all been cream polished and it comes complete with the original red felt key cover and factory pillow-top adjustable duet artist bench. Petrof utilizes German Renner actions for fluid response and tonal accuracy. Because of this, countless famous performers and well-known personalities have fallen in love with Petrof instruments, and the representatives of the fifth generation proudly continue in their honorable trade and family tradition. Scarce as hens teeth in this kind of condition and an absolute bargain considering that new ones are $79,990 it won’t last long, trust us on this one.
